PP here who was walking with hand weights on either side of my regular hiking backpack. I gave in and bought a true weighted vest from Amazon and it’s so much more comfortable and convenient.

My vest was under $50 and is breathable. I am large-chested (E cup) and was concerned that the vest would cause chafing or not fit over my breasts. Instead it fits above my breasts and is very comfortable.

I guess I should post the link - I’ll try to find it.

Inspired by this I just did 1.5 mile uphill walk through my neighborhood. Hot as hell, should’ve waited until evening but I managed. Took my llbean backpack and out two 10lbs weights in. Felt good!

Isn't rucking actively bad for your knees?

My PT recommended I take up rucking 2-3x/week to increase bone density. She suggested starting with 10 pounds and increasing to 20. I'm a 130-pound woman. I'm looking for a good vest with even distribution - don't want the cross strap but an actual vest and preferably one that is somewhat breathable, but maybe that doesn't exist. Any recommendations?

I'm female late 40s. 5'8 135-140. I use a 12lb weighted vest. I prefer the all over disruption vs the weight in back.

Yes I get pretty sweaty using a weighted vest. But I sweat a lot in general.

For comparison, an actual combat load is around 75 to 100 lbs and you're expected to hike that for 15 miles or more.

I wear a wighted vest around the house when I do chores like laundry, vacuuming etc. It's 10% of my body weight.

OP here, I can't really answer your specific question but I can tell you that 12lbs is much heavier than I thought it would be. I was surprised when I picked it up out of the box. Once it's on it feels less heavy, but you can absolutely feel that extra weight. If it helps, this is the one I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07518RBH2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1&psc=1

What I like about it is that it doesn't feel bulky and doesn't move around. I have a petite frame so I was afraid it would feel too loose on my chest, back, waist - but it fits great. As I mentioned I've been wearing it around the house to get used to it - while loading the dishwasher, making beds, doing laundry. I wear it an hour at a time.
