I mean, he's your boyfriend. Can't you just say "going out all the time is making me fat"? Let's cook X nights per week. Or also, you can do a better job ordering and/or choosing which restaurants you go to. You can also do it for your budget.

Order something healthy.

Don’t eat every meal together.

Get a vote in what you do/where you go.

Your title is ridiculous.

+1. And no alcohol.

And if you don’t want to go out to eat tell him you already have plans. Why are you giving up your hobbies (cooking, staying thin) to hang out under some man every single day? I’m sure he’s a nice guy but it’s important to have a life of your own.

Why no alcohol? She can drink moderately and eat moderately and be perfectly fit and healthy. This all or nothing stuff makes no sense to me.

Less alcohol when you’re eating out*. Eating out and having rich fattening meals every single day doesn’t leave much leeway for a drinking habit too.

My now husband was like this when we were dating; 15 years later he never wants to go out, so I say enjoy it while it lasts!

She might be hungry and want more than a daily salad

Then eat a protein bar before going out

Or, you know, some actually healthful food. Not some chemical monstrosity cooked up in a food lab.

He probably makes good money and it frees you from cooking at home. Sounds like a dream to me. I would offer super expensive restaurants like Sfoglina, Blue Salt etc. and eat lobster

If you can't be honest and have a direct conversation, your relationship is doomed. How will you ever bring up something serious?!

this. I mostly eat half portion when we go out.

But, when DH and I started dating in SF, we went out all the time. I gained weight. But, I called it my "fat and happy" period. I was really, skinny, though.

We did stop going out so much eventually. It was just the first several months of dating that we went out all the time.

A guy who refuses to NOT eat out all the time won't be a great husband/father. He's not worried about his health or saving money. Occasionally is fine, but not constantly. And the fact that he doesn't care what YOU want to do is also a red flag.

This is how you get dumped and “have a life of your own” all on your own.

Better to be dumped than be fat!

If this relationship is going anywhere you have to be able to tell the truth. Tell him you’re sick of going out, want to cook, like to eat healthier.

If he can’t accommodate this, he’s not long term material.
