Sorry. In our school they change from simply “passing” and “failing” to high school prep with actual grades, so every little thing matters a bit more. Our school is a bit unique so I was wrong to assume every school was the same.
I don't think that is unique and I would not consider it high stakes. Most middle schools give actual grades. Do these grades factor into college admissions?
OP—DC is taking high school courses that count towards high school GPA.
