I have a stupid nespresso that I stupidly really like and not only do I keep buying the stupidly expensive pods, I also replace the stupidly expensive machine when it breaks which seems to be every 5 years.

ugh.

I’ve had mine forever and it’s still going strong. I want it to break so I can get a newer one in those pretty colors.

What exactly is breaking on your Keurig, is it a particular part that you keep breaking? Your issue may be user error.

My in-laws have a Keurig that's at least ten years old, which they use daily.

I’ve bought cheap Mr. coffee and expensive coffee makers. They seem to last the same amount of time and it seems the cheap Mr. Coffee’s hold up better with regular cleaning. We replace it when it finally dies or the carafe breaks by someone accidentally dropping it since it’s probably not worth it to buy another. It’s once every few years.

Buy a new one if you don’t like yours. But have you tried cleaning and changing the brand of coffee?

I've been using my 4-cup Krups since 2004 when my father died. I had given it to him a few years earlier.

Sounds like a water problem. We have a Mr Coffee, Keurig and Krups Espresso machine and they are all more than 10 years old and we don't have any clogging or crusting problems. We're in Maryland in WSSC territory.

We have an undersink water filter in our kitchen.

She asked about coffee makers, not Keurigs.

At 30-40 bucks, Mr Coffees don’t have to last very long to make them worth it vs higher priced competitors. If it’s gross, buy a new one. Descaling only gets you so far.

But, I do have to put a plug in for an espresso machine. I used to do both but have now switched completely over.

We have a double-walled, stainless steel French press. Few parts and everything goes in the dishwasher. About eight years old, no stains, coffee tastes great, and no signs of wear.
