It also probably wasn't MPD giving the parking ticket, likely was the city's parking enforcement crew which is a separate thing.

It was definitely an "inspector" who gave me the citation for the trash can. Octavia was just wonderful...

I know our parking enforcement officer well. We have been in our current house more than 20 years. The $50 ticket I received was from a MPD officer, as his information is on the ticket. I'm so happy that he decided to ticket my vehicle (that was literally 2 inches past the legal parking sign). He wrote the ticket at 2:15 am and gave me a ticket that makes no sense. The legal parking sign is within one foot of the Stop Sign. He charged me with a violation of parking "within 25 feet of a Stop sign" although legal parking is within 2 feet of the Stop sign. WTF!

We haven't gotten a ticket for trash (*knocks wood*), but did get one on Christmas Day for having a wreath on our car that blocked part of the license plate, which was parked in front of our house in a very quiet residential neighborhood. The officer gave us a second one two days later.

It’s a racket. I got one several years ago because homeless people would take stuff out or add stuff and it overflowed and got fined for that. They’ll also fine you if homeless people litter and you don’t pick it up

Trash was picked up Friday morning and I moved the trashcan back onto our property mid day Friday. Our contractor moved the trashcan in order to have more space to work and they forgot to put the trashcan back on our property Friday night. The "inspector" gave us a citation at 7:15 Saturday morning. This is a blatant violation in your eyes?

Then make your contractor pay the fine. In my contracts, contractors are responsible for fines that occur as a result of their work

Trash was picked up Friday morning and I moved the trashcan back onto our property mid day Friday. Our contractor moved the trashcan in order to have more space to work and they forgot to put the trashcan back on our property Friday night. Normie home owners with security clearances and 800 FICO scores don't want to mess up their lives due to a ticket from the city that goes to collections. DPW knows that. A masked kid who steals from the Apple store probably never has a bank account balance that exceeds $100. The city also knows that.

Honestly, I think most law abiding, tax paying DC residents have had enough of our elected officials. It’s completely dystopian. You could have walked into the Apple Store in Georgetown and walked out with an armful of iPads and nobody would have lifted a finger. But if your trash can is askew they pull your card. I can’t take it anymore.

Live in Burleith, they blanketed the entire neighborhood with tickets if you had a trash can in the alley. Dozens of tickets issued on our single city block alone. They issued the ticket on our normal actual trash collection day (Thursday), but since it was a holiday week the trash would be collected the next day (Friday). So friggin' sneaky and under-handed.

ANC put up a huge stink (pun intended) with DPW. The agency ended up rescinding all the tickets they handed out.

We got a trash can ticket many, many years ago. Took it to a hearing, fought it and won.

Yes, I have - I'm in Ward 7. I couldn't retrieve my bins timely due to a bee swarm. I successfully contested the citation.
