I am sure this is at least in part due to the stress of the job, tight deadlines and heavy workload but the biglaw partners I've met don't seem like pleasant people that I would want to be married too or have children with. I'm sure some of it is also the type A personality needed to make partner in biglaw.

How much money does your Biglaw partner spouse (husband, I assume) bring home each month?

I don’t think the work is as “hard” as it long. Lots of long hours away from home. Lots of schmoozing. The actual “hard” work of writing and assembling files is done by support staff.

He shows up if he can. I’ve gone to every BTS night and most school parties on my own.

The work truly never ends.

So -- once more, with feeling -- if you are that impressed by JDs, get your own. It's not that hard.

It’s not that hard to get a JD, sure, but it’s hard making partner in Biglaw.

True that. But many of the BigLaw partners I know are married to one of our law school classmates.

At any rate, perhaps OP getting their own JD would put a stop to this "I wanna marry a BigLaw partner!" crap and at least empower them to make their own damn money, BigLaw partner money or not.

Oh stop. I’m completely serious. They don’t all get divorced, they all make sooo much money, and I’ll bet they don’t ALL work that hard.

It must be nice to have that kind of money.

You think some of them aren't working "ALL that hard"? Why do you think they have "that kind of money"? The lawyers who don't work hard don't make partner (absent the very very rare person with mad connections to lots of CEOs of fortune 500 companies, or a really famous name, or something else that will lead to makin' it rain like crazy without working 80 hours a week -- but those folks are already married).

NP here. I have worked in many law firms, in different areas of the U.S., and most of the senior partners have absolutely been married more than once.

OP, you need to go to a good law school to make some good money for yourself. It is not going to fall from the sky.

My understanding is that it varies by firm.

Yes - he is a great dad. Amazing. Is 100% present with the kids when he is home.

But how often is he home? How many hours a week would you say your husband is with his kids?
