Why? Where are you going that you won't need the booster?
Travel boosters are pretty light and easy to carry. Plus, virtually all airlines allow you to check a car seat or booster for free. So you get a travel booster seat, use it in the Uber, get dropped off at the departures curbside, walk in and check the booster and pick it up at your destination. When you get to your destination, whether you are riding in a rental car or a friend/relative's car or Uber, you will still need a booster.
Sorry, there is no situation where "it doesn't make sense to bring a booster".
