Honestly I think taking your leftovers home is tacky. I still do it sometimes, but from a food safety perspective I don’t think restaurants can officially condone it. After food has been out of temperature control for that long, you might personally decide to refrigerate and reheat it but a restaurant can’t do that. So maybe they can’t take it back to the kitchen and then give it back to you?
When really nice restaurants have given me something to take home it’s never temperature controlled.

And they probably do it on a not so clean counter/where the dirty dishes are stacked.
And hope they use a clean spoon to push the leftovers into the container.
And not use their hands that have touched credit cards, money, menus, and a whole host of other things that I don't want touching my food.

I agree! I’d be upset if the server took my food away to pack it.
And seriously, this is such a small issue. The OP is fully capable of scraping some pasta into a box. If you need to outsource that, you’re quite helpless.
