I don't think CS counts but AP Stats does. There may be a lower stats class as well. I do think colleges would expect to see Calc but if she hates it that much I can see why it's a big waste of time for her.

My DD is taking Alg 2 in 9th and has no desire to keep leaning Calculus she will never use another minute in her life. It would be different if she was going for science/engineering/computers/med, etc... but she isn't. The math options suck and to force the kids to keep taking it instead of other more interesting courses stink.
Parents should think twice before putting kids on the math fast track. (WPES parents notwithstanding.)
I'm glad my kid is on it. If she sticks with it, she'll be able to take calc and stats before she graduates from HS. Those are classes I wish I had taken in HS. Would have made college/grad school easier.

I agree but…why would a child who hates math take Alg 2 in 9th? That certainly is a difficult path for a student disinterested in pursuing math..

Does the math in 8th count toward her 4 years of HS credits? Will colleges that require 4 years of math (UMD) dismiss a kid who doesn’t take math in 12th?
She hates math.
I'm sorry. But your daughter messed up. They need to roll with math all four years. If it's not too late, get her into Calculus AB now.

Have her take Financial Literacy. It’s a good, practical course that many seniors take.

He won’t ever use it as he is a social science kid. There’s no way he will take calc. We’ve already decided he will take stats senior year as at least it will be useful.
