The community does not want the holidays. Not even people who celebrate some of the holidays. We should follow falls church here. They tried it for year or so and then took them pit. No tests, new material on the holidays but kids go to school.

Berkeley CA is about as liberal as it gets, and they don't have the religious holidays. They took the reasonable route and just don't do any of them (winter break excepted, but that's a federal holiday).

The new holidays are a sign of a community with not enough diversity of political point of view. The 5 liberals/progressive SB members are afraid of their own shadows and won't disagree with anything that's part of the I'm a good liberal bingo card.

I'm a hardcore liberal. But it's a turn off. The religious holidays for religions that are a small minority in our community is bad policy.

+1. It’s like watching flawed decision making 101, assuming that your “gut instinct” is right despite universal opposition from the community you serve.
