Their athletic teams are really good. Very competitive. There’s nothing wrong with the school. It’s really the surrounding area that keeps people away. I have a lot of friends who went there who are really successful now and also who are genuinely nice people and married nice kind people. If they could revive Hartoford then it’s a great school for kids who want a city location but who can’t go to Tufts let’s say. Most of the SLAcs are in tiny towns so it’s appealing.

I am a Trinity alum. I graduated in the 1980s and went to a good law school several years after graduating, and have had a pretty successful career. I know that I would've done equally well and maybe better if I had gone to a different school. It was definitely the wrong cultural fit for me.

Trinity has a very country club vibe and Greek life is overwhelmingly dominant. There are some excellent students and intellectual engagement to be had there, but on the other hand there are a lot of students who are pretty much there to get their degree but who dedicate most of their time to their social lives and to drinking.

Both of my kids went to Liberal arts colleges but I never suggested they look at Trinity. There is no way that we would pay full price for it and there are much better experiences to be had elsewhere.

I looked at that college factual ranking system. Their 25 "best value" schools include nothing but garbage: BYU Provo, University of Phoenix (!), Central Georgia Technical College, Eastern Gateway Community College, Central Texas College, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and a bunch of other obscure schools that look like VoTech. I don't know about you, but I'm inclined to disregard their opinion on the ROI of Trinity.

As for the student comments, any website that takes student comments is a lot like Yelp - many people only comment because they're mad about something. You can go to any college and find 1 and 2 star reviews. Even Harvard has 1 and 2 star reviews on Niche! Usually poor reviews fall into a few common categories: (1) URM is mad about discrimination and lack of diversity; (2) Unpopular loser is made about too many Greeks and athletes on campus; (3) Someone is mad about dorms, parking, or weather.

You can find over three hundred 4 and 5 star reviews of Trinity on Niche (about half of all reviews).

Looks to me like the negative comments here are from typical DCUM snobs.

Talk about cherry picking. Here’s another quote just to balance. I don’t need to pull others. It’s a good school ranked equally with F&M and Lafayette. Less totally woke than the rest of the SLAcs which some might appreciate but that’s an individual thing. In a city ( which isn’t nice, but West Hartford is) while the others are in small towns. There are good internships available. Great professors and a very strong alumni network.
