My kids just wear athletic shorts, tops and joggers . Only major expense are sneakers which are close to $150 these days.

2 kids in HS who don't get back to school outfits. #1, it's still super hot and they are in summer clothing, not like where I grew up and we needed Fall clothes for back to school. #2, they both play Fall sports and have been "back" for weeks

I spent $220 for my freshman DS. He got got some basic shirts and shorts to replace what he’d outgrown and a first day of school (which is also picture day at our school) outfit which will double as a nicer outfit for an upcoming warm weather vacation.

Like another PP, we’ll do another round of shopping for fall/winter clothes in October/November when it gets cooler out.

My daughter asked for Doc Martins and my son wants new shoes, ideally Jordan’s. Other than that, we’ll wait til the weather cools down to see what they’ve outgrown and want/need for fall/winter.

My teens are also done growing. One didn’t want anything new for back to school. The other one usually buys clothes with her own money. I gave her $150 for back to school shopping, figuring she’d either buy a couple of nice things she wouldn’t normally get for herself or load up on inexpensive tanks and tees. (She did the latter, plus one new pair of jeans.)

Mine is in HS. The only thing she asked for was sports bras and they were $40. I expect her fall sports hill to be around $200. Other than that, I will buy her a lululemon jacket for her birthday in October for $120.

We buy things when she needs them. She’s been the same size for a few years so she doesn’t need things often. She uses her allowance and babysitting money to buy what she wants.

We don't keep careful track of this. I know we bought:

-3 new pairs of pants
-A new dress
-Two shirts/skirts outfits
-A new pair of boots
-A new backpack and lunchbox
-Two new jackets - one lightweight and one for winter

This is for a 5th grader.
