Hmm, thinking about it, I’m sure it’s because ATS has less discipline and fewer behind kids with checked out parents, and that frees up a LOT of time. Our teacher spent probably 70% of class time on that ONE kid, which has always been the case for our kids.

My school does a weekly newsletter that is mostly departmentalized with some additional teacher notes about the class. At ATS I got a weekly newsletter with individual information about my students academics and behavior. They also have every student take music, chorus and band/orchestra which is something parents may want to consider.
Sounds very time consuming for the teacher!

FWIW we're not at ATS but receive weekly newsletters also. No weekly assemblies though. I wouldn't base your decision on newsletters.

Being surrounded by other families who are invested in their child’s education matters. (And the opposite is true. Kids with uninvolved parents can drag the entire class down…)
#1 predictor of academic success is parental involvement! But, you can’t make people care.

Think about what the commute would be like for you. If your child rides the bus it can be a long day. On the other hand if you have to pick up from extended day it might be tiring for you

What did you like better about ATS when moving in 4th grade? We’re still on wait list (2nd grade) and not sure if we’d take the spot after 3rd. Some things we like and some we don’t at neighborhood school.
Yes pls explain! We are certain we will take the spot but just want to feel confident of our decision bc the school is an earlier start and we are further away. So a long bus ride.
