No he should not aim higher. 1. Tufts is a great school; 2. They take a fair amount of kids ED. 3. Way too many kids go for lottery ED shots and get deferred then rejected and then are left in a terrible RD situation and fall way below tufts. One should ED to school that takes unhooked kids ED - like tufts

Extra curricular are just fair-he has a long time part time job, one varsity sport, one academic club, 200+ service hours. in terms of engineering ec he doesn’t have any, partly because his school is not very strong in stem and doesn’t have robotics or anything like that and partly because he’s very social and hates a packed schedule (so he’s not seeking out non school based engineering activities.)

he will have taken the two engineering classes his school offers as well as ap physics c, so hoping that helps.

Make sure he is approaching the application and essays in a sophisticated way that demonstrates why he wants to go to Tufts.

That’s what I’m worried about. He actually is excellent at math and that score was lower than he got on the three practice tests he took.

He doesn’t think he wants to retake and I’m reluctant to tell him to since he’s happy with his score but I guess if it’s a red flag maybe I should mention just so he can make an informed decision. It does seem crazy that a 720 would be a ding when lots of people aren’t submitting any scores.

Is it the 720 itself or the fact that verbal is higher? Or both?

Unfortunately it doesn’t have a great track record (it’s also for some reason not a popular choice for kids at my child’s school.) does a school’s track record in terms of past acceptances matter more at tufts than other places?

I’d be concerned about the lower math score on SAT given intended engineering major.
