Among ALL the crimes, parking tickets are your number on priority?

NP.. How about we enforce all the laws?

Someone who is a habitual speeder and red-light-runner should just get their car impounded. No complicated and prolonged investigation, prosecution, trial, et cetera. Far less resources needed. If they want their car back, they need to pay up. Simple as that. It's low hanging fruit. And meanwhile it brings in revenue, some of which could be put toward all of the other crime problems.

,

DPW would need its staffing increased by a measure of like 1,000 to deal with the issues we have now (all of which are entirely Council-created in the name of "equity.") And even then, it can't ticket/tow cars parked on private property.

Actually, the moving violations are the fault of Maryland and Virginia, who refuse to offer reciprocity to DC, so MD and VA drivers can just do whatever the hell they want on our roads.

Explain?

Even if outsiders can dodge paying tickets, how can they dodge arrest and impoundment?

The can easily dodge it because DPW (which writes parking tickets and handles booting/towing) and MPD (which handles arrests) are both critically understaffed. Your chance of getting booted/towed for owing thousands in tickets -- or getting pulled over by police -- is laughably small in DC.

No, but people who have so little regard for traffic laws aren't model citizens when it comes to bigger crimes either.

Our roads? You don't drive on theirs when you go there?

No, maybe they're a responsible law abiding citizen sick and tired of the lawlessness. Why is a car with thousands in unpaid tickets on the road? You want a repeat of the same story where a car with $10k+ in tickets ends up killing multiple people again?

Yes, because if one is sick and tired of “lawlessness,” couch surfing for unpaid parking tickets is clearly the top priority for taking action…

Wow. You’re pathetic. Get a life.

And no, before you bother with your predictable adolescent clapback, I have zero tickets.

Just a scumbag ally?

You can enter the plate number here and it displays the tickets that haven't been paid:

Is this your hobby?

Someone needs a life.

After 6 months they should bring any cars that haven't been claimed to the auction. Problem solved.
