No, you cannot sadly.

My Gen Ed through ES DD took Honor classes that had a bunch of AAP kids and DD did better than them .
It's rather arbitrary at this point.
I'll add on to this having one kid in "AAP" and one not. In Middle school there was not much difference between HN and AAP. Everything was the same except for the level of math Math-but we were in a Center MS. Fast forward to HS, both my kids are in Honors classes and are both taking AP(College board) classes. My previous "non AAP" student is doing just as well in these higher level courses.

No. The only way to be placed in the AAP Sections is to have been committee selected for AAP.If you have a child in 6th grade and you want them in AAP sections in MS you will need to apply for LIV this year.

Can you apply for 8th grade AAP?

Why? It only goes through 8th so by the time the kid was accepted it would be over.

Many AAP kids are over rated. Their parents are hung up on this designation.

For GPA calculation, honor class is 5, right? What about those AA classes?

I had one in AA(P) at Frost and one that took honors because they didn’t qualify for Level IV AAP services in elementary. AAP kid said honors is basically the same thing. They both ended up going to TJ.

Any reviews of Honors at Robinson?

Our AAP kids went to Robinson rather than Frost--it has a strong program with plenty of kids who are academically-focused. A lot of kids who would be zoned for Lake Braddock AAP also just go to Robinson. No regrets.

Yes - everyone goes there for honors instead of the AAP center so they know the kids there for HS.

Mine went to Robinson from Fairview LLIV. Almost all LIV AAP kids stay local at Fairview and go to Robinson. Many kids from pyramid who chose center (White Oaks) go to Robinson for middle vs. Lake Braddock. I can’t compare HN to AA courses, but I believe the peer group in honors is strong. Most importantly, my child is happy.

My kid is at Frost right now in 7th and has AA classes for lang arts, history, and science according to his schedule. Algebra is just listed as honors.

Was your child principle place in a local level IV or were they determined eligible by the central committee?
Is your kid going to MS at your base school, and or at an AAP center?
