Virginia in has a tradition of magnet "Governor's Schools." The two most famous are TJ and Maggie Walker, but there are many others in other parts of the state.

Not true. I know plenty of socially skilled TJ students. And plenty of socially inept "top private" students.

Anyone from the south knows that is total horse puckey where the NOVA counties are concerned. The south used to start somewhere around Manassas, but it probably pushed farther out now with the suburban sprawl.

Because the privates you listed don't have better academics than FCPS. If you have the money for Madeira, you have the money for a house in-bounds for Langley. Whereas in DC, a middling neighborhood Catholic school blows DCPS out of the water.

The City of Alexandria does not send students to TJ in a misguided attempt at so-called equity. It’s one of the worst run school districts in the DMV.

Smart City of Alexandria kids who can afford it go to privates in DC.
