24k is a specialty of Hong Kong. They have some new method where it’s not as fragile as it used to be and the pieces are really intricate. It’s a little too bright for my taste though.

Are you talking about a 22k gold plated chain? In this case, you need to consider what base metal is used. Copper and brass will be prone to discoloring, whether it's wet or not. Cheaper chains may use steel as a base metal which will be a problem in water. A simple magnet will tell you if it's made of steel.
