Interesting - it may be that sometimes they don't use the separate office there and just have the agents out in the passport control area doing it. Seems like a good idea to ask someone where to go if you are doing EoA as soon as you enter the arrivals area. Good info, thanks.

Last year, I waited in the regular line at Dulles when my 8yo hadn’t yet had the interview. The agent said when I got to the front that we should have gone to the GE line, moved us over there, and she was approved on the spot after the few questions. We didn’t go to any separate area.

MPC is faster and easier than GE now. I just used it at Newark (no idea why PP had a problem), Philly and Dulles.

Do not attempt non-GE kid in Dublin. Man were they mean!

Yes but you also can’t do the interview upon arrival until your application has been approved - the interview upon arrival is instead of scheduling an interview at another time. It is not a replacement for the entire process.

Right- you already had GE, so were allowed to use it during your interview/renewal process.

It seems like some airports have the GE agents do the EoA process. At other airports it's in a separate office. You should ask a CBP officer when you get into the arrivals area where to go. But reasonable assumption you won't be able to use the GE line if your kid doesn't have GE fully approved yet.

In Aruba they had machines and the agents definitely double-checked that our 6 year old had his own enrollment. Otherwise, we would have done regular line.

I think it depends on how the airport sets it up. Some airports allow you to do the interview with the agent processing passport control. At Dulles it's a separate office. Here's a full experience from someone recently at JFK. (USC here means US citizen)

Eh. You’re not special. In my experience, exceptions are frequently made, especially when sincere mistakes happen.

I went through GE with my 1yo not knowing minors needed it. We got a talking to by the agent and they threatened to revoke our statuses if we ever did it again but they did let us go through (thank god because the standard line was sooo long that day).

But, and I acknowledge this sounds awful — I’m pretty enough that I’ve noticed that I generally get my way even when against the rules…

Just did a quick google search and:

“Many airports have designated Enrollment on Arrival lanes or even allow you to simply head through the Global Entry line itself, which makes your trip through customs faster even if you need to complete an interview.”

MPC is a joke. I arrived at Newark - where the app was telling me they used MPC - filled out the form, had my approval ticket, and when I got to passport control they said “no, we don’t do that” and had to go to the regular line anyway. Thankfully, we were the only flight hitting the line at that time, so we went right through. I had a connection, so I would have been really pissed if I had to wait on the really long line.
