Do not confuse the levels in Spain (Spanish/European kids playing for Spanish clubs) vs a summer camp of American kids who can afford $5K in Spain.

No doubt, but there are also many more competitive levels of clubs there too. I didn’t mean to suggest an MLSNext/ECNL kid will be able to get a practice at a la Liga club but even any club below that would still be an eye opening experience for a competitive kid since clubs are so ingrained into the culture and community.

My kid has pro aspirations and I plan to have him practice with local teams in Europe. It’s either going to humble him to give up the dream and aspire for less, or motivate him to work even harder.

It's summer camp in spain. If there was legitimate interest, they would be flying the kids out and housing them for free

My son was just selected from the Detroit camp. We are also on the fence due to the cost and length of stay during the school year. If we waited until next March, he would be 12. He hasn't even had a sleepover at a friend's house... so this would be a real shock to the system! LOL

My son (12) and I went last fall and it was fun. They are clear that it is not a recruiting trip. It is for fun only. My son still talks about it and I’m glad I had the ability to show him what soccer culture is like in Spain.

$2-3k plus airfare for the child. Also, a mandatory adult chaperon is required, so factor another 2k + airfare.
