Hawaii is a hard place to live. Traffic is bad with long commutes in Honolulu. Houses are expensive. Schools are weak. It is absolutely beautiful to visit but living there is a real challenge. I’m not familiar with the other cities. Good luck!

San Antonio is crazy hot and then there are grid issues. Plus I find it creepy that people seem to be obsessed with what gated community you live in.

Why don't you just move to Denver?

I'd pick Evans/Augusta. I have a bunch of coworkers there that love it. The cost of living is terrific too.

Tx does not have a State Income tax!! San Antonio is a very fun city and has a lot of amenities to enjoy.

OMG move to Hawaii. Adventure of a lifetime. Your kids will have paradise in their backyard!

LOL - true, it's not that small anymore! I still think it has the same feel though and not as much sprawl as Houston. The weather is a huge drawback.

It's a small metro area, so a small city like Pittsburgh, Sacramento.

Ranking by city size is misleading, especially for places like NY and DC situated near state boundaries.

We loved living in Hawaii but we had military housing and private schools.

Hawaii is gorgeous but not to live. Island fever is real. It's also so freaking expensive- not just housing but everything has a major upcharge due to its isolated location. Schools are notoriously bad. No thanks.

Augusta is a small town and feels VERY Deep South IMO. Too small and too conservative for me.

That leaves San Antonio. It's way too hot for me but it's a real city with plenty to do, pretty diverse, there are pockets of excellent schools, reasonable COL (getting more expensive). That'd be my choice, easy.

Are the schools in San Antonio (public or private) good?

I would be willing to settle for apartment living and fewer dinners out to live in Hawaii over those other places.

Texas has crazy weather now and Georgia is sooo southern.

Close to Asia too if you like world travel.

Only consideration would be schools. Public schools are pretty hot or miss I think in Hawaii, and college will have to be out of state.
