Burke is more competitive now and I highly doubt they have openings. It can't hurt to call but it definitely doesn't have rolling admissions or random spots open. If they have a spot its because of an unexpectedly student departure. Burke is getting solid kids who are looking for something specific. You're not going to walk up in August and just get accepted.
Call the school yourself and find out before posting here to call other posters out.

I was the poster that said Burke because they in fact have room in their 7th grade. Had nothing to do with how OP described their child.

I would also call Norwood. It’s a lovely kind school with strong academics. It only goes through eighth but you wouldn’t be the only family who just does two years. The kids are welcoming. Don’t know about numbers for each grade so you need to call (that goes for all schools you are thinking about).

OP could try K-8 schools as a small number of middle schoolers apply out early leaving a few slots open, especially in 7th and 8th grades. That's been our experience at Norwood. Alex Ragone is the person to speak with there.

Sheridan may have spots. Their classes are very small and the teachers see what is going on. Sounds like a good fit. Bullying does happen but in a lighter way.

You could try Christ Episcopal School in Rockville. It's affordable for this area. There is a big enough 7th grade class there, where she hopefully would not feel stifled. I know they are fullish for this grade but still might just check.

Religious schools, like Jewish and Catholic, are more likely to take latecomers - call around and don't be put off by deadlines online. I didn't bother trying one year because I thought it was too late, but after we went private, the private told us that actually they would have taken us late.

They should have sought out ways to prevent (or at least minimize) it, as well consequences to address it, but it appears as if they did neither.
After the meeting we had a few days ago, I don't expect the school to respond to these type of incidents any differetnly than they did last school year, and I do not want to send my child back to the school under those circumstances. So if anyone knows of schools that are still accepting applications, I'd appreciate having that information. Thanks in advance.
