You know a booster isn't inherently safer, right? If the seatbelt fits him without a booster (crosses his chest, not his neck and lays low across lap, not across belly) then you aren't doing anything good by keeping him in a booster. In fact, you may be mis-positioning the belt.
The seat belt fits better with a booster than without one but its mostly there so he can see out the windows better and have some head support when he wants to sleep for long car rides.

She is 47 inches and 43 pounds. She is small.
PP here - okay well that makes sense. That is the same weight as my 3 year old and only a few inches taller. He is obviously still in a full car seat.

NP but my two boys have both been 40-45 lbs at age 3. They’re 90th and 98th percentile or higher for both height and weight, healthy BMI.
My DD is closer to average weight/height and didn’t hit 40 lbs until she was already 5.

Like you, we keep our petit 10 year old in a 5 point harness. Her older brother is 12 and still sits in a high back booster. I plan to allow them to ride in the front seat at 15.
We prioritize safety over peer pressure.
I think I l own this family. They are suuuuupppwr cautious about everything. Everything. This is not normal.
