I totally agree.

For some reason, I find it especially irritating when it is B-C list celebrities and they are thanking some sponsor who ostensibly paid for the tickets.

I wish she had come to DC!

Everything is an elitist activity now. House and car buying, clothes shopping, enrolling your child at school. You can thank social media. It will be our undoing.

I am constantly shocked by how much money there is everywhere and people seem to somehow have an endless supply of it. And not just rich people but all the “normal” people too. We make a very good living and I am not complaining but everyone around us seems to always have more. We do try hard to keep gratitude and perspective but it requires constant effort and vigilance to do so.

I just paid $700 for two tickets to Bruce Springsteen. We rarely go to concerts but my husband and I have been talking about how this is the one show we have always wanted to see and it might be the last time he tours.


Sure, it’s a luxury. Lots of things in life are and you have to pick and choose. I didn’t see Springsteen when I was young because I couldn’t afford a ticket. Maybe these kids can see Taylor Swift in 40 years when she does her farewell tour.

My daughter went to LA one. She said it was a lot of fun!!

I wanted to take my son to Imagine Dragons - $200 each, I couldn't justify $600 for a family evening out.

My husband and I wanted to see Robert Plant & Alison Kraus - $300 each, again we passed.

I wanted to see Jerry Seinfeld. Again, $300 each. The only thing left were single tickets, 5 minutes after the box office opened.

All concerts are ridiculously expensive and not worth the price for most families these days.

I don’t care at all about TS being “elitist.” So stupid to pay huge money for a concert.

I’m not into TS so feel no envy about the tour and am happy for fans who get to go. BUT I do have one friend who has gone to several shows (all destination for her) and posted a TON of photos of each one. She’ll joke about how it’s going to bankrupt her but then brag about VIP whatever. I muted her after the last one because it really felt at that point she was just showing off or something. I get saving up to go once but three concerts at those prices is an embarrassing amount of money IMO. And even if Swift varies her set list some, it’s the same show concept, mostly the same songs, same choreo, etc. I don’t get it.

I’ve learned so much about this concert and I don’t even listen to Taylor Swift (don’t come for me, I’m 100% neutral/pro TS). It’s a media phenomenon, like the Super Bowl.

Yes! One influencer (who I never heard talk about Taylor before this) went to two shows for different brands. She’s got about 500k followers each on TikTok and Instagram and only posted IG stories tagging the brand.

Yeah, I completely understand what you are saying OP. But she also wants everyone to buy her music music twice twice. And guess who gets to pay? Her fans! Just like for her concert.

Yes, I know it is to get back at a male record producer but it wasn’t like she needed the money. So the fans are expected to revenge buy on her behalf?

I don’t get the whole thing but people are willing to do it so capitalism rules the day!

Not a TS fan, but she is apparently delivering a really good show if you are one. I can see why her fans would want to go to this show.
