I'm a hardback devotee for the same reason. You have to actively hold a paperback book open, a hardback can sort of lay open in your lap.


Yes, this is the main reason I much prefer to read hardcovers.

They are also just more comfortable for me to read in general.

I love that so many publishers are putting more effort into cover and page design again. The rise of special editions has perhaps nudged them a bit? Even the standard editions of some books that came out in the last year are gorgeous.
