I'm a teacher. This shows no one on the Board has ever been to Syphax in the middle of a workday, or they would have seen it is a ghost town. Most people are working from home, they're not in the schools. With teachers in the schools constantly sharing and shuffling through spaces, I think it would be very reasonable to ask the same of Syphax staff, but we know Duran's priorities.

She was ill, maybe have some compassion.

You sound like a parents righter pretending to be an APS employee.

I am an APS employee who has had had the opportunity to be in q/a sessions with Duran and he is disingenuous as hell. He's a politician, not an administrator.

Except for Syphax, APS spends money on things, not people.

They vote on the calendar policy in early September.

And the paid holiday issue is part of the calendar policy??

Yes. The calendar policy says all the new days off are off for students and staff both. The difference is that 12 month staff are paid for those days off and 10 month staff are not.

The leave policy for administration is absurd. The idea behind holiday closures is so kids don’t have to feel like they are forced to decide between celebrating a religious holiday and missing school. That doesn’t not apply to the adults. They can take an excused absence just like the rest of the working world does for holidays.

+1

+1. what's the point of having a board if all they do is rubber stamp any asinine request?

I'm not a Turner supporter, but if having an APE member on the SB means we can get members not to vote in lockstep, I'll be pretty happy.

And Reid showed a spine? Pinch me! I've been waiting for this since the high school rezoning vote five years ago.
