The Candid Life of Meena Dave by Namrata Patel is set in Boston. I enjoyed it very much, although it’s a very light mystery.

Op again and realized I didn’t follow up on Charlesgate Confidential after I finished it-I LOVED it! Quite funny at times, good mystery, interesting/fun period details in the storylines set in the 40s and 80s. Highly recommend! Though bc it’s sort of noir/hard-boiled in style (which is usually not my fave) be prepared for some adult language.

Academic “thriller” that I’d put in the same vein of Secret History: Tell Me Everything by Cambria Brockman was set in NE. Can’t remember if it was Boston specifically though.

Parker was who got me into reading crime fiction when I was in HS 30 years ago. By the end I was only reading his new books for the nostalgia factor, but he really did revive the PI genre when he started with Spenser in the 70s. He might not hold up now because he was so widely imitated that it could seem stale but I loved those books at the time.
