I'd imagine daily incremental ridership for this $10B minimum expansion to be well under 1,000. How about Metro find a way to maximize ridership on its current lines instead?

It's certainly not a direct route to work. But, as the PP says, plenty of people do it. Also, a direct route between Tysons and Bethesda is an idiotic route for heavy-rail transit like Metro. It's not even a great route for an express bus, and certainly not without a dedicated bus-only lane.

Fairfax and the State of Virginia have invested enough in Tysons and McLean. Time for the rest of the region to get some investment

Unnecessary for who? Seems like it'll significantly help move people between Virginia and D.C. -- unnecessary for me, but they've been suggesting something like this for years, so I imagine Metro has a reason for wanting to do it.


There would be both loud and quiet opposition in Alexandria to a Metro line coming over the river from PG County. Sad but true.

Unnecessary for who? Seems like it'll significantly help move people between Virginia and D.C. -- unnecessary for me, but they've been suggesting something like this for years, so I imagine Metro has a reason for wanting to do it.
