I've been to A LOT of conferences/meetings where breakfast was served and the bagels have NEVER been toasted. As long as they are fresh, they don't need to be toasted.

Yes, I’d suggest keeping the bagels under wraps (in bag) just until you serve them to preserve their freshness. Yum

Depends on the crowd. People familiar with bagels will understand good bagels don’t need to be toasted. The gentiles will be really confused why there’s no toaster no matter how fresh the bagels are.

Omg, no! No one expects 20+ bagels to be toasted for a crowd. Who is unfamiliar with bagels in 2023?

In 2023, many many people have never had a fresh bagel made that day and are only familiar with bagels from a bag in the grocery store. Almost no one in my extended family has. All I'm saying is that people like that would be looking around for the toaster. It's not a huge deal, but something to consider.

Well, they can learn a delicious lesson then.

Even the FDA says lox can be out for 2 hours unrefrigerated and that is generic, conservative advice for seafood, not counting that the whole point of smoking fish is as a preservative.

2-3 hours is perfectly fine for lox, no need to mess around with ice.
