A box spring cover is probably your best bet. My box spring is low profile, so the bed frame covers almost the entire thing.

Nope. I'm not looking at the legs of my bed frame and under my bed. Bedskirt all the way.

Bed skirts are great, especially with a plain heavy fabric or a vertical pattern.

Unless you have a platform bed, no boxspring, you need a skirt, IMO. Otherwise you’re looking at all the underside of the bed.

My kids beds have a basic metal bed frame on wheels. I used tailored bed skirts on each of them. I can sew so I made my own with kick pleated corners since some of the ready made skirts are cheap looking. Mine looks like this, but in white.

I use them and I am big into bedding as fashion. There is no good substitute because I don’t want to look at the dust bunnies under the bed. Also, I use king size items on top of a queen bed so with the overhang you don’t see much of it.

We have them on a couple beds that don’t have attractive side rails. Tailored white one.

They’re not “out.”

They go with a particular style of decorating and type of bed.

You really don’t need to worry about whether or not your decorating is trendy. It’s for you, so do what you like.

It only matters if you’re trying to sell your house, trying to sell yourself as a decorator or trying to use entertaining at your house to promote yourself personally or professionally.

If professional, I can see situations where you might need to present a certain image.

If personal, it definitely doesn’t need to be trendy, it just needs to be considered and welcoming.

OP could be asking because things that are out of style can be harder to find, but also, it's not crazy to wonder if something you like is out. Like, I don't think it would have been unreasonable for my stepmom to wonder whether or not sponge painting was out before she did that to my bathroom.

I think tailored bed skirts look beautiful and clean so I continue to use them. I get annoyed when people care more about what’s in and out va what looks good in their home and reflects their style.

We will stick with box springs because we like tall beds. That means simple white tailored bed skirts in primary and guest rooms. Kids have modern platform beds.
