Yes I know. She has told me.

Are you sure she told the truth? My spouse earned more than my father with decades less experience in the same industry. We downplayed our salaries so that we didn't embarrass him.

Why does DCUM always insist people have secret income!!!

Because most people do.

LOL no. "Most people" do not lie to their mom about how much money they really make. What an absolutely bizarre thing to believe.

I am the previous poster with the four adult children who told you this is none of your business. I should mention that I have given my kids exactly one piece of financial advice: don’t leave excess cash in your checking or low interest savings account. Always put anything you’re not gonna need that month into a high yield account and transfer it over when you need it.

I told them that because a huge pet peeve of mine is the big banks like Wells Fargo spending my money and my kids money. It drives me bonkers. Other than that, I keep my mouth shut.

A lot of people are subsidized by their parents. You would never guess.

Why would you give your kid terrible advice?

You may not like him and there’s room to quibble on some of his ideas, but generally speaking his principles of living within your paycheck and getting out of debt are sound.

Parent of four adult children here. So long as your adult child is not asking you for money, how they spend theirs is 100 percent none of your business.

I would have a heart to heart with my kids, because we have that close bond. If they fob me off, I also know when to let up without hard feelings.

The worst: You thinking you know. The idea that you are adding-up their income vs, what you think are their expenses ~ creepy.

You also don't know what money her fiance brings to the table -- even if you know his salary you don't know his assets, what his family is paying for, etc. MYOB. Even if they are going into significant debt, their lives.

Not OP, but the more realistic and likely scenario is that two young people suck at budgeting and are overspending.
