I am constantly reminded of the talking walls in Fahrenheit 451 (the fireman’s wife was addicted to her interaction with “people” in her electronic walls — I can’t remember if it was explicitly stated but I think they were basically AI “people” that she purchased access to. She valued them over her relationship with her husband. We are basically there already.
