My 9 yo loved it. There are silly parts and they get the main message even if not all the nuanced jokes. The one single curse word is literally censored out purposely.

I think parents need to decide for themselves what they are okay with their kids watching and what their children can handle. Our kids routinely watch movies that are geared towards an older audience with us and it has sparked some good learning conversations. My 9-year-old daughter really enjoyed the movie. There were a few things that perhaps went over her head, but she knows what a vagina is. What a gynecologist is and understands that most high powered positions have historically been held by men..... And that there has never been a female president. She has not been super into Barbies up to this point but really enjoyed the movie and would like to go again. I didn't love or hate the movie. I thought it was cute and had a good message..... That your identity should not be based on how you fit into someone else's world. For those that are really upset about this movie, were you this upset about planet of the apes? Why is it so triggering to have a fake world where women hold positions of power?

Nothing in here is wildly inappropriate. If your kid is immature they "won't get" the jokes. It's not like they'll be traumatized. My younger kids are very bright and understand these jokes and are fine with them. PP must have really dumb kids or toddlers or be super uptight conservative.

My nine year old loved it and understood most jokes and definitely knows what a gynaecologist is.

My rising ninth grader loved it and the sixth grader thought it was okay. I would take a mature fifth grader, maybe a fourth grader, but they won’t understand it. Third grade is a little on the young side.

The movie itself doesn’t have anything explicit, scary, traumatizing for 13 and under. Your kid most likely won’t understand the jokes and underlying message regarding patriarchy/feminism. When you only listen to talking head conservatives, you really miss out. It's totally fine for little kids. They don't get a the jokes, but they get enough to enjoy it.

My 7 yo loved it! She is very bright for her age though.

My 10 year old loved it. She got many of the jokes, and nothing was really inappropriate. There is a line of dialogue about how Barbie and Ken don't have genitals, but honestly, ES kids already know that. The mild innuendo went over her head, but she know what patriarchy means and understood the general themes.

Took my 9 year old - she definitely didn't "get it" the way my 12 year old did and found it. a bit long, but she had fun dressing up, loved the dancing etc.

My 10 year old enjoyed it but there was a lot that went over her head. We also had to explain what "patriarchy" and "gynecologist" meant.
