They have assistants who make reservations for them and check in. Or their management company calls the hotel manager and the situation is accommodated.

Hotels like having celebrity guests. They will do what they need to do to ensure smiles and happiness.

Are you on the run? Why on earth do you use a fake ID for a hotel?

Hourly hotels. Discretion. Leave no trail.

The hotel doesn't get more celebrity business if they all don't keep their mouths shut. Celebrities talk or certainly their assistants do.

I’m white and I’ve always had to provide an ID also. There have been times when the rez was under DH’s name and they didn’t let me check in. Other times, this hasn’t been a problem.

Same. I always have to provide ID. When spouse has made reservation, they've added my name to it so I can check in if they aren't coming on the trip.

Couldn't the hotel staff easily tell their friends and family?

What is the point of the alias? Who else besides hotel staff would have access to their name in the hotel registration?

you have to supply a real credit card with the same name for a reservation. So how did that work?

DH has booked rooms for me and they have insisted on getting him on the phone for confirmation. Though it could just be my lover Ed who is parking the car that they would talk to. How on earth would they even know. It's all stupid. There must be more to it on what celebs do. Hotels shouldn't even need your ID if you have a confirmation number and the $$

Usually you just have someone else in your group check in. Then they hand you the key. You wear a hat and semi clear sunglasses. Totally darl glasses is too fake. If your alone, uses a fake ID and have someone else reserve the room ahead of time but allow a second person as guest...
In life, if you picked a public job as a profession, then live with it, enjoy it when your found out. Let people know you are OK being recognized by smiling and giving a knod. If you run or get crabby it hurts your image which you built.

Haven’t you ever met a friend at a hotel and the reservation is under their name, but you get there first so you check in with your ID and CC on file? Also, if someone is famous enough to need an alias for a hotel room, I would imagine they’re not the one discussing the alias with a random desk clerk.

So if I make a reservation for Jane Smith - when I get there they are not going to give me her room surely?

It’s a hotel room, not a controlled substance. You need ID and payment, and if you can provide that along with the details of the reservation that’s generally enough. I’ve had girls weekends with friends and gotten there first, so I was the one who checked in, picked up keys and gave a credit card for payment and security even though the reservation was under someone else’s name. I think it was under her husband’s name one time, because he booked it with his travel rewards. DH has booked trips for us and then had work emergencies pop up so he had to come later, and I did the check in. My parents have gifted us trips and booked the trip under their name, my maiden name, and occasionally my married name. It’s never been an issue. Spray case scenario, I think once I showed the confirmation email because someone seemed to have trouble finding a reservation, but they didn’t even ask for it. It’s just not an issue unless you’re actually trying to scoop up someone’s reservation and shut them out of their room and the hotel is booked solid because of a Taylor Swift concert or something.

The celeb doesn't check in. The assistant (who made the reservation) does.
