Target carries a few lines, and I haven't found any that are over priced. I've been reliably able to get pants and shorts for my daughter for ten years at <$10 a pop.

My daughter is going into 5th. I will typically buy things online for her to try on a home - or in store, if I'm already shopping there. If something's a winner, I may order duplicates.

Most of her clothes are from Target, Athleta, Kohl's. Funny Teepublic t-shirts have been a hit too. Looking for a few things to round that out so she has "nice" options and found some stuff from Mango she liked.

She likes the idea of shopping in person, but always picks things she never wears more than 1x. I avoid taking her shopping as much as possible.

It’s almost like people that use an online form could also figure out online shopping.

Old Navy, H&M, sometimes Target but not for most things; Hot Topic for one or two things to get her off my back about it.

But yes, we do once a year back to school shopping in person, get basics etc online as needed.

So far, my 9 yo is not that picky about clothes. No, she doesn’t like shopping in person. She mostly wears athletic shorts (many handed down from her brother) or leggings, with t-shirts from her sport, from places we’ve traveled, etc. She still wears simple dresses, too. I shop for her at thrift stores, Target, Walmart, etc.

Helpful for me, though. I live outside of DC, as do many other readers. And, there is also an ONLINE Dillards....

FWIW, my kid likes the Target athletic stuff. It’s either that, Old Navy active, sale Athleta or Dick’s. (My 12yo is sporty and not into fashion at all.)

Athleta and the thrift store make up most of my 10 year old’s closet.

Target and TJ Maxx have been disappointing. Old Navy, Amazon, and local thrift stores have more hits than misses.

My 11yo DD would still wear Boden if it fit her but she sized out a couple of years ago. She loved the animal appliqué tees.
I get most of her stuff from the thrift store, she doesn’t care yet, or Gap/Old Navy, we tend to hit both of those when we’re at Rehoboth in August. I don’t like ON kids tshirts because the neck goes saggy after a couple of washes but I do like their jeans.

If I know her current size for a particular brand, I’ll show her a few styles online, let her choose what she likes, then buy multiples in different colors. Old Navy and Athleta are good for that. She likes shopping in person at Franki because the sizing is a little more variable and the salespeople help her shop. She gets a kick out of that.

At that age we did stitch fix for a while. It was so much easier than dragging my girls (18 mos apart) to the store.

I remember taking my daughter at that age to LLBean, when they had actual live fish in the store. She looked at me and said, “Am I needed for this?” I was not pleased, as I don’t like to shop any more than she did, but she was the one who kept growing! Luckily, I could see the humor in the idea that the fish were more fun than trying on clothes! I learned to eat first and everyone was in a better mood then!

Never gone shopping in actual shops. I hate that. We look and buy online.
