His "coach" was a local IT person who had briefly coached at a low level private school, several years ago, and had no significant playing experience. His team was a mix of levels, as were the others. And, there seemed to be little involvement from the UVA soccer program. But . . . the accommodations were great. He enjoyed that he and his friends got to stay in an apartment-like suite.
UMD, on the other hand, had a crappy dorm room but he liked the camp more. There was still a mix of players but the level of play was generally higher. The UMD players are intricately involved in the camp as assistant coaches. And, there is more instruction from qualified coaches.
Neither is going to significantly affect anyone's skill level, for sure, but the Maryland experience was more valuable and fun.

My U15 kid (female) liked UVA overnight camp and Coach Allison's camp at SJC (I don't know what it's called, but it caters to "elite" female players). I would say at glance most kids at both were 12 and older?
I have found the big clubs camps’training better vs local club camp, overnight UVA or SJC. The locals camps are just the same old same old.
My kid (who is a reliable-ish) reporter said UVA was mostly games and scrimmages and not much instruction

Are you talking about Coerver? If so, yes, still around but catering to young near-beginners.
