"no man left behind" pertains to leaving a man during war, not people who defect and turn traitor.
What concessions will the US have to give up for this idiot, who seems to be a f*up? Let him rot in NK. He seems to think his life will be better there.
Sorry, no. It pertains to those going AWOL, those looking to escape US prosecution, heroes and traitors alike. It is about the mission of the military, not the worthiness of the soldier.

There's no IQ test required before we rescue people. Really, OP. Think this through.
He was being returned to the US for misconduct.

The guy was clearly a nut before he ran across the border. His CoC is going to go through some stuff.
He was being sent back to the US. He was brought to the airport by guards but they couldn’t go through security so once he was alone he found a way to leave the airport. And go on a tour of the JSA. It’s a really bizarre story and a really bizarre decision on his part. Perhaps he had a mental break of some sort.
Wow, this is even worse for the CoC. Why wasn't he put on a military flight out of the country? Or, at the very least, you coordinate with local SK police to get this guy accompanied to the gate and on the plane back to the U.S. This is so dopey and ham-handed.
