It still puzzles me, how can the immediate family not have questions about his behavior? I read body language fairly well and I pick up things.

California has almost twice the number of people when compared to New York, yet New York has produced more serial killers than any other state.

The NYT has an article on why it took so long to catch him. There was a lot of corruption in the police force, which led to them cutting the FBI out of the case for a long time.

CA did, not so much now. In the 60s and 70s the free love movement attracted predators who moved there to benefit from easy access to young women without consequence. There's a study somewhere on it, I don't have a link.

The book by Bob Kolker it’s based on is amazing. Really unique perspective on a true crime story.


Interesting take! I like Bob Kolker and highly dislike the voyeristic tone of so much true crime, and he did a great job of focusing on the victims, but the organization of the book made it almost unreadable.

Really glad police caught this guy.

not really. that is a broad description. the FBI also added that he was most likely middle-aged and white. 99.9% of serial killers are male and the others are fairly normal for LI. Do you really think a woman would be doing this? Do you really think a black guy would be able to drive around LI dumping bodies unnoticed and ignored by the police?
