Any routes that are more impactful than lawn signs to show that neighbors support development? I try to attend the ANC meetings but the boundaries are so weird now- we technically don’t live within the subsection for this site.

We do live by the church/ Sunrise development that also was in litigation- the NIMBYs just lost that case a couple of months ago. The court decision was helpful for understanding the economics of these developments, like why the need a mix of market rate and “affordable” units to make it worthwhile for developers. It also showed how the neighbors were suing in bad faith.

AU neighbor a stones throw away from the site who would LOVE developing it!!!! What do we do????

Are you trying to say the Spring Valley people are pushing for the development? If so, that’s the opposite of what’s going on. They are trying to stop it and the AU park people want it.

Do you really prefer an empty parking lot with a falling down, spray paint covered building over some retail, townhouses, and apartments?

It will never become Bethesda and the people across the street currently look at, and bought across from, the back of a gas station, an alley with dumpsters, and a parking lot. The new view would be an improvement if you look at the renderings!

Replacing the current lot will only improve property prices and make the neighborhood less janky and run down looking.

We miss having a local grocery store. Running into wagshals when you need one thing gets expensive. They should build a gym or townhouses or something else there with the grocery store.

6 story plus grocery store sounds fine to me. Isn't the AU building next to it 3-4 stories already?

Of course the development involves a somewhat tall (6 story) apartment complex. There is no way to make any money on just a grocery store. There have been 3 grocery stores in that location and they all failed. It has to add apartments in order to succeed/slash make money.
