Tickets to a sporting event or theatre, the good seats they and a friend wouldn't be able to afford themselves, and cash.

Cash always fine but find out if they have any kind of wish list. My dd just turned 21 and has some camping gear and kitchen items she’d love that are a little out if reach for her.

My kids actually don’t prefer cash or gift cards. They still appreciate it, but they LOVE it when relatives put in the effort to pick something out for them. They only prefer cash from people who are notoriously bad gift givers. My MIL somehow manages to give gifts that are actually inconvenient (don’t work and need returned, require fittings, etc), so they do prefer money from her. Lol
