It sounds "so uncomfortable" that someone else eats differently than you? Why do you care at all what other people eat?
I've been vegetarian on and off for years and have not made a huge deal about it. I will basically go to any restaurant and be able to find at least one thing to eat. If I'm in Maine and my husband really wants lobster, we get lobster and I eat other things. If we were at a beach house with another family, I would probably only mention my specific need as pertains to real situations - "What do you and the kids eat for breakfast?" "Scrambled eggs and bacon." "Oh, my kids are vegetarian so they won't eat the bacon. Do your kids want pancakes?"
People on this forum have a special hatred for anyone who has dietary restrictions, pretty much for any reason. I just truly do not understand why it's so uncomfortable to be with people who eat different things than you. Do you feel that way about any other lifestyle decision, PP, or is it really just about food?
