No one cares. We’re talking about real football here.

Boo! Traveling to Charlottesville to play the Cadavers. Dukes on their way to playing "real" football.

DP- B10 and SEC are the only “real” football left.

I get what you are saying. I'm old enough to remember when the Big Ten expanded to more than ten teams.
Different world now.

Expect the University of Washington & the University of Oregon to follow. Then Stanford & UCal-Berkeley will apply for Big Ten membership. (The Univ. of Washington & the Univ. of Oregon have already applied for Big Ten membership, but--even though thoroughly vetted & cleared by the Big Ten--their applications are on hold as the Big Ten university presidents do not want to be responsible for the collapse of the Pac 12 Conference.)

The Big 12 Conference and the Big Ten Conference are waiting for the University of Colorado to make the first move. When Colorado moves to the Big 12, then the Pac 12 will be devoured by other conferences.

The Pac 12 media rights deal expires on July 1, 2024 and no new deal has been reached.

Follow the money--where the Big Ten Conference rules--and it is easy to understand why U Washington, U Oregon, Stanford, & UCal-Berkeley want to move to the Big Ten Conference.

As of now, Notre Dame will remain an independent with a working agreement with the ACC. If Notre Dame football does decide to join a conference, their realistic options are limited to the Big Ten Conference, The SEC, or the NFL.

Sure the worst NFL team would win every game in the SEC by 50-60 points including the college playoff games.

At any one time about 16,000 college football players are draft eligible, which is only 1.6% of that college player pool. Only 259 players will be drafted. That is 0.016% of the draft-eligible NCAA pool. Of the 259 drafted on average only 30% make the team.

Laugh much ?

I was just adding a bit of humor to my post.

Continuing: My best guess is that you also missed the joke regarding my comment about flying into Portland.

Why do you think kids go from Maryland to Wisconsin or New Jersey to IU? Where are there more high school students than in California? I get the nostalgia but the schools know exactly what they’re doing.

They are getting TV payouts for football. It has nothing to do with attracting regular students or catering to the student body, it is all about getting large checks from ESPN and Fox. Meanwhile, teams on a shoe string budget still have to travel to away conference games halfway across the country. I'm sure UCLA field hockey loves to prospect of getting to Ames Iowa one week and then Lincoln Nebraska the next.

Why would UCLA ever travel to Ames, Iowa for a B1G game?

They might travel to Iowa City. Iowa State (Big 12) is in Ames.

Is Ames any different than Corvallis, OR?

No, not if the team flies into Portland.

Iowa City.

This is an evolving process. The mega-conferences are likely to create regional divisions. For example, the West Region of the Big Ten might include UCLA, USC, U Washington, U Oregon, Stanford & UCal-Berkeley.

I expect the Big Ten--currently 16 teams including UCLA & USC--to ultimately expand to a 24 team conference composed of 4 six team divisions.

Various new reports claim that the Big Ten has vetted 10 additional teams for possible future membership: U Oregon, U Washington, Stanford, UCal-Berkeley, U Miami, UNC, Duke, Utah, U Virginia, & Georgia Tech.

Because they boarded the wrong plane ?
