Oldest does 60 minutes of AoPS when home, but is away at camp half the summer and just having fun outside there. Also spends time with technical reading related to a hobby/future career.

Youngest is reading and doing a page in a math and phonics work book every weekday, which takes about 45 minutes per day.

Brought math books from Europe. Going through 2 years of math, the one DC just finished and the upcoming year, in 2 months.

Rising 1st grader - couple pages of math workbook a day, but only if she is into it. If she is not in the mood then no problem. She reads plenty by herself and asks to be read to, so no issues there.

Rising second grader has 30 minutes each of reading and math worksheets/computer games on her daily checklist to earn points. She routinely does wayyyy more reading, and yesterday got really into the math section she was on in her workbook so probably did that for an hour. But we don't harp on it - if she doesn't complete the checklist, she just doesn't get points for that day.

None. Why? It’s summer. They do catch up on august/September.

My dyslexic kid has a tutor once a week for an hour. It’s plenty.

Other than that, just summer reading.

My rising 3rd grader has summer packets from school to do over the summer. We are doing them.

None this year but when he was in early ES we had him work out of a summer workbook for 30 minutes a day to earn his screen time. He is entering 6th grade this year. Now we ask him to read and he chooses to attend some camps that are STEM based. He is doing fine in school and enjoys learning so we are not worried about his sliding too much.

Nothing. They do read for pleasure. When they were in early ES, my MIL used to buy them those summer bridge workbooks. I always made it clear that they didn’t have to do them, but my older wanted to, so then my younger did, too, because her brother was. But they were so basic they’d zip through them in a week and then be done with any school work.

None.

None? They read on their own everyday, and spend most of the day playing with each other and their friends outside. 3x a week they're training for the Jr. Olympics events they made it in.

I printed some materials to try to get my rising 1st grader to learn to tell time. I promised if I quiz him and decide he can tell time, I’ll buy him a watch.

Hmm. Mine did a week of camp, and a few weeks of school district “enrichment” (sudoku, puzzles, iPad games, drawing).

I don’t force it, it’s a part of her morning routine and fun for her. She loves math.

My rising 3rd grader does accelerated math (Beast Academy) a few days a week and English+second language reading and writing practice on the other days. We just use workbooks, no apps, 20 minutes a day. Some days we might do a longer more in depth math session if the topic is interesting to her and she wants to explore a tangent.

Even if I knew her classmates were doing way more or way less, I would stick with our current level intensity because it's what's right for her. Some kids need more summer academics and like to do it, others not so much. You know your kids best.

The typing is purely because I think everyone should learn to type well. My mom made me learn around 3rd grade and I am a very good Tyler (around 110 WPM).

It's not impressive to type fast if you can't type accurately.
