Why do I think like this? I think it's because I grew up with a dad who always said " me casa, su casa" to all my friends and family that came over and visited.

WTAF? On no planet is the neighbor obligated to invite ANYONE over to their pool. Who in their right mind would think they should?

We have a pool, but so do all of our neighbors and our kids' friends. We only invite people we want to have over. The same people we invite over if we did not have a pool.

You of course aren't obligated to OP, but I wouldn't say these responses are reflective of my experience with people who have pools (that you are too nice), I think the offer you were considering is very common. Doesn't mean you have to do it, but I don't think honestly you should think you are being a saint for offering! My in-laws next door neighbor has a pool, the neighbors always WELCOMED us to the pool, offered many times (and this offer extends around the culdesac). They moved out and the couple that moved in does the same thing. My friend's Aunt has a pool, same thing - offers it to all nieces and nephews and their friends.

So I don't think you need to get into a situation with this family who it doesn't sound like you feel very comfortable with, that's fine. But the offer is a pretty normal one. It is nice of you to think of.
