How will it affect your child if you take it off? Most parents put it on because it helps their child feel connected and like they belong. Maybe for your DC too?

1. I do not find that comment too rude. It's intrusive, certainly, and not something I'd say, but I wouldn't mind if someone said it to me.

2. This is why people don't have stickers on their car - others make too many assumptions. (Also, unless it's magnetic, it looks bad when it weathers and you try to take it off.)

3. If your public school is really bad and moving is out of the question, then I suppose private might make sense. But otherwise it's way too ruinous for what it is, and it does not confer a college admissions advantage. And before someone says special needs, actually my son with complex needs has been better served in public. Now he's going to a good university.

4. But it's wrong to make assumptions, of course. Maybe you have a different, special, situation.

I wouldn't take the magnet off the car. This woman's comment was ignorant and full of assumptions. If it were me, I'd have responded with, "okay, you do you boo. I love that for you." If she is gonna stalk your car, then she has deep issues that your removal of a decal will not solve.

I think your response was fine. This coworker obviously has certain feelings and trying to engage, even if to explain your priorities (which you don’t owe her), could backfire.
