Subject: Day camp options for ASD & ADHD, bright 8 yr w/ significant social deficits
Thank you everyone for the replies. I just spoke with the Bar-T coordinator and he seems to think that my son will be fine in their Ranch program. I am signing him up for 2 weeks and see how it goes. For the remaining time, we had hired a nanny. Autism is so hard to navigate as it's a spectrum and what the deficits are different from one kid to another.

they are not interested in students attending their school with severe adhd and anxiety so i don't feel their camp would be well equipped either. they are worried about "safety issues"

DP: I have also heard great things about Bretton Woods, and was in touch with them two weeks ago. There was no openings in the adaptive program when we needed it, but it is worth reaching out to. As of last Thursday, the Alliance Pediatrics still had availability in the July 17-21 mini session. Good luck.

It depends on the student/class. I've worked at Imagination Stage as a 1:1 aide dedicated to a specific student and also as an inclusion counselor supporting multiple students in a class. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you!

My asd & adhd boy goes to Bar-T outdoor ranch/mountainside camp. Even weather has not been that great with all those rain here, he is fine getting wet and getting a bit dirty. I am not sure if location is a bit too far for you, but my boy takes their bus to go there. They have canceled some pool time due to the rain/cold temp, and some of the daily activities have changed due to weather. It was not perfect weather the past week, but he seemed to be doing fine and happy.

What is SACC?
Same Age Child Care. It's what they call the after-school and supplemental childcare program in Fairfax. They have camps in the summer and options for some days off school.
