Do a mass cleanout of the junk in your basement. Make three piles: keep, toss, and donate. For every item you keep, at least five items need to leave the house. As I have frequently told my husband, most things do not grow better with age. It's better to get them to someone who can use them before they deteriorate.
I'm sure there is some stuff we can purge, but I'm talking about stuff like Christmas decorations, camping supplies, suitcases, sports equipment... things that we use but not year round.
