A friend's daughter who got into UCLA in 2022 with good grades but no stand-out extracurriculars and no sports had a part time job throughout high school (one day per week at a bakery--she would get there every Saturday at 6am through the school year--it was really impressive).
Exactly. UCLA was grads with ultra strong work ethics. They'll be more successful. (At the risk of stating the obvious.). Smart is important, smart AND a demonstrated work ethic is the whole package.

Plenty of kids have no interest in sports or real ECs, but are happy to work 20+ hrs/week. It shows dedication and strong work ethic. Many kids cannot afford to do anything but work---if they want a car or to drive a car they have to pay gas and insurance, or for the vehicle itself. If they want to hang out at the movies, they need spending money. Nothing wrong with working rather than running the glee club or robotic club, if you have no interest in those

It says it's from CDS.
Schools have the importance of factors (test, gpa, rigor, EC, etc.) for them on their CDS.
But CDS does not have work experience. YOu fell for another Northeastern PR move
Quick Google returns CDS for WashU and Northeastern
