I nearly choked on my water laughing at this.

They will let us roam the secure Memory care grounds, but will remind us "make sure you come in before the street lights go on."

Wait! I don[t get it. I am 48 and grew up in northern Virginia. What am I missing?

Do you remember every night on the news there was a reminder that would come on, sometimes a famous TV or movie star would say it, "It's 10pm...do you know where your children are?" Also, it was common for parents to let their kids roam the streets with friends as long as they came in before all the street lights came on. I'm early 50s and grew up in N. Va and I remember this.

Do you think we'll be able to pull our bodies out of the pier1 papasan chairs?

LOL. We'll take it back to our old camp performance of the Beach Boy's "Sufin' USA" and we will all wear op shorts.

They DJ at dance night will surprise us with dances even from our early childhood. In the same dance night we might have the Hokey Poky and Conga lines,Thriller, the Macarena, Break Dancing songs, and House of Pain Jump Around. The possibilities are endless. Paramedics will be waiting for those of us who go a little too wild on the dance floor.

I was making my kids lunch and asked my husband if he remembered eating or seeing kids eat bologna & cheese, spaghetti-os, or Campbells soup in a thermos. My kids would never eat such things.

We can rewatch after school specials. It’ll be okay to watch the Cosby Show again because we won’t remember his crimes.

We’ll drink Crystal Lite in the day room. Diet cokes will be in the fridge, next to the California Coolers.

We’ll wear thong leotards over bike shorts and do Jane Fonda/Kathy Smith aerobics.

Midday programs will include showing HS party pics and discussing what constituted a party back in the day (in a field!) and what we imbibed. One program will be all about concerts we attended. Another will be about our cars, prom, clothes and dating.

Since we are Gen X, the staff will pretty much leave us alone and intervene only if needed, just how our parents were with us. Staff won’t be invited to our events, sorry.
