Us too! Both Citydance studios and conservatory have been wonderful for my children. The teachers are the best of the best and the kids have excellent technique as a result.
Wish I could agree. Really wanted that to be our place. Just wasn't. The teacher's were not kid people or good translators of technique. Not the right fit for my girls.

Anonymous wrote:Hi,
Does anyone know a good dance studio for jazz or hip hop for an elementary school child in the Potomac / N. Bethesda area? Thanks!

Not in North Bethesda but Bethesda Conservatory of Dance is our favorite after trying everything....seriously....everything.
Not a fan of BCOD, left after one year. Very happy with C-unit, especially for hip hop.
Dance mom drama and inappropriate costumes. We ran out if there.
That was not my experience with my 11-year old beginner, at all. The technical instruction was great and her costume was fine, baggy pants and a fitted black top with long sleeves. I agree the little girl costumes are on the skimpy side, however. Not sure why that's a thing!
Beginner is the key word. They can't handle anyone beyond the very very beginning dancers. Any rec program could offer you more for far less money.
That's why they do so well in local competitions?

Our daughter takes classes there
It's friendly but extremely low quality. I would recommend the YMCA or county rec for much better classes at lower price.
We have been at RCDA for a few years, and there is no quality issue. Students have gone on to have successful transitions to more pre-professional or competitive tracks if that is what they have wanted. (The owner and teachers are also very friendly.)
I'm guessing that you do not have a technical dance background. No reasonable assessment would call RCDA high quality or knowledgeable instruction.
Another happy RCDA parent here - not sure why you are so angry with them. Our daughter has been happily dancing for years with them, and the quality is excellent
